Course Description The AP® Business with Personal Finance course is an introductory, college-level business and personal finance course. Students explore the business disciplines of entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, and management through real-world business applications, case studies, and project-based learning. In addition, students learn and apply all the National Standards for Personal Financial Education created by the Council for Economic Education and the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will complete two projects throughout the course. The Business Canvas Project allows students to develop and evaluate an original business idea by conducting market research, testing hypotheses, making evidence-based decisions, and building a complete Business Canvas. The Financial Advisor Project asks students to serve as financial advisors for a fictional household by analyzing its financial situation and developing a Comprehensive Financial Plan with evidence-based recommendations for budgeting, debt, insurance, saving, investing, education, housing, retirement, and other financial goals. The course is based on the units of required content in the AP® Business with Personal Finance Course and Exam Description outlined by College Board®. These are Businesses, Competition, and New Ideas, Marketing, Personal Saving and Borrowing, Business Finance and Accounting, Management and Strategy, and Personal Goals, Budgeting, and Investing. This course does not include registration for the AP® Exam Offering. Students planning to take the AP® exam are required to register with the help of their AP® Coordinator at their school and sit locally for the AP® Exam. Scheduling Information COMPLETE COURSES -A complete version of the virtual course. - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months ABBREVIATED COURSES - A shortened course intended for students seeking to make-up failed courses or recover credits. - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. PARTIAL COURSES - A partial version of an online course intended for students temporarily away from classes (i.e. Home Bound Instruction, In/Out-of School Suspension). - Partial courses must be completed by your school's end date Format -Delivery : This is a virtual course delivered entirely by an established education organization, including a virtual instructor, to students and educators.
