Course Description This course is specifically designed for students from the state of Virginia. Biology II is an advanced study of life from microscopic intracellular mechanics to complex macroscopic systems of organisms and ecosystems. The course initially focuses on the foundational practices of scientific inquiry, chemical properties of life, and cellular mechanics, including transport, signaling, and bioenergetics. It then progresses to the mechanisms of heredity, molecular genetics, gene expression, and the practical applications of modern biotechnology. Evolutionary theory, population ecology, and human impact on ecosystems and sustainability are core themes throughout units. The end of the course covers human anatomy and physiology, exploring the organ systems, immunology, and modern medical research. Scheduling Information COMPLETE COURSES -A complete version of the virtual course. - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months ABBREVIATED COURSES - A shortened course intended for students seeking to make-up failed courses or recover credits. - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. PARTIAL COURSES - A partial version of an online course intended for students temporarily away from classes (i.e. Home Bound Instruction, In/Out-of School Suspension). - Partial courses must be completed by your school's end date Format -Delivery : This is a virtual course delivered entirely by an established education organization, including a virtual instructor, to students and educators.
