Course Description Computers are soldered into all aspects of our daily life, and when they stop working, it can seem like our network has collapsed. If you are fascinated by the inner workings of computers and how to keep them running, then a career in computer maintenance may be for you! In the first half of the course, you’ll learn how computers are set up starting with the software and operating systems and what to do when hardware and software issues are encountered. You’ll learn different types of data communication, various power supply units, essential components like motherboards and memory and much more! Grab your personal expansion card, and let’s hardwire some new knowledge about computer maintenance. In the second half of the course, you’ll dig into computer networks and their extensive capabilities. You’ll explore data exposure and how to mitigate threats, discuss the fundamentals of network design and layout, learn how cloud-based services store data, discover the differences between wired and wireless networks, and dream of possibilities as you explore fun network options like smart home systems. Scheduling Information COMPLETE COURSES -A complete version of the virtual course. - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months ABBREVIATED COURSES - A shortened course intended for students seeking to make-up failed courses or recover credits. - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. PARTIAL COURSES - A partial version of an online course intended for students temporarily away from classes (i.e. Home Bound Instruction, In/Out-of School Suspension). - Partial courses must be completed by your school's end date Format -Delivery : This is a virtual course delivered entirely by an established education organization, including a virtual instructor, to students and educators.
