Course Description
Students will be introduced to the Japanese language and culture through interactive lessons that begin with the three writing systems: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. Each unit will give students ample opportunities for ownership of their learning via forum discussions and provide guided practice for writing, speaking, and listening in Japanese. Thematic topics explored include: greetings and introductions, family relationships, school/classes, telling time, and daily routines. Grammar topics explored include: SOV sentence structure, particles, adjectives, comparisons/superlatives, expressing reasons, counters, masu form, and dictionary form.

These vocabulary and grammar topics combined with cultural exploration make this course an engaging, comprehensive beginner level Japanese course.
