Course Description This is an honors level course that challenges students with capstone analysis, evaluation, and creativity. Students are required to complete honors capstone assignments in each semester of the course, involving research, creation, and/or the extensive use of multimedia. Students continue their exploration of the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures through more in-depth lessons and participation in forum discussions while improving their comprehension skills in both oral and written form, expanding their ability to interpret the language. Vocabulary topics explored include: country identification, cultural topics and holidays, sharing opinions and making comparisons, forms of communication, recycling and the environment, job search/careers, shopping, city life, and transportation. Grammar topics include: the preterit and imperfect past tenses, comparatives, superlatives, reflexive verbs, future tense, conditional tense, impersonal "se" statements, demonstrative adjectives, direct object pronouns, and commands. Students will explore the cultures of many Spanish-speaking countries by learning about their products, practices, and perspectives and identifying various famous Hispanic people and important monuments in Spanish-speaking countries. This course is presented in Spanish. Prerequisites Spanish II Course Materials Students must have access to a microphone. A headset is recommended. Spanish-English dictionary is recommended but not required. Format Delivery : This is a virtual course delivered entirely by an established education organization, including a virtual instructor, to students and educators.
