Course Description This course provides an overview of two of the Body Systems including the functions and actions of the bones and muscles and the importance of exercise for the bones and muscles. The student will also examine body image and eating disorders and the importance of getting medical and psychological help for people struggling with the disorder. Behavior, Stress and Stress Management will be described and ways of coping with stress will be identified. In addition, HIV/AIDS will be understood, the transmission and prevention of the disease will be discussed. The effects of alcohol, smoking and drugs on the body will be examined as well as the dangers of drinking and driving. Lastly, the course will help you understand food labels, portion control and learning to eat from all five food groups using MyPlate.
