Course Description Get your game on in this introductory game design course! In the first half of the course, you’ll kick things off by exploring what makes a game a game, taking a look at the history of gaming, and discovering the future of gaming technologies. You’ll dive into the different elements that go into designing a game — learning about the typical roles on a game design team. Then it’s your turn to design! You’ll experiment with storytelling, character and model design, artistic elements, color theory, and typography, getting hands-on experience with the kinds of choices real game designers make. You’ll also be introduced to programming concepts to round out your skillset. Finally, you’ll build your own online portfolio to showcase the projects you complete throughout the course. The second half of the course is your chance to turn your video game ideas and dreams into reality. Jump into the world of game design where you will learn how to craft everything from legendary stories to insane gameplay mechanics using the Unity engine. Get your “hands dirty” debugging, fine tuning, and prepping your game for launch across multiple platforms. By the end, you will have your own game ready to drop – packed with all the features that makes a game unforgettable. Get ready to power up your creativity and to level up your game design skills!
