Course Description
The AP® European History course covers the history of Europe from 1450 to the present. This course is designed to provide students with the economic, cultural, social, and political developments related to the major events associated with this time period. The course will also introduce students to the birth of modern political thought, the Great Depression, and World War II. They will study the Cold War, the collapse of communism, and wrap up with the dawn of the 21st Century. This course focuses on seven themes: Interaction of Europe and the World, Cultural and Intellectual Developments, Economic and Commercial Developments, States and Other Institutions of Power, Social Organization and Development, National and European Identity, and Technological and Scientific Innovation. The course is also based on the nine units of required content in the AP® European History Course and Exam Description outlined by College Board. These are Renaissance and Exploration, Age of Reformation, Absolutism and Constitutionalism, Scientific, Philosophical, and Political Developments, Conflict, Crisis, and Reaction in the Late 18th Century, Industrialization and Its Effects, 19th-Century Perspectives and Political Developments, 20th-Century Global Conflicts, and Cold War and Contemporary Europe.

This course does not include registration for the AP Exam Offering. Students planning to take the AP exam are required to register and sit locally for the AP Exam.
