Course Description This course is designed to meet the North Carolina science standards. Throughout the course students will develop their writing skills, scientific inquiry skills, and be exposed to the scientific method through a variety of assignments including discussion forums with other students, essays, and lab simulations. The course will give students a basic understanding of all 3 major content areas: physical science, life science, and Earth & Space science. The content first covers an introduction to the process and history of science. Next the student will be given a grounding in physical science by examining the properties of matter and energy. Following this is a biology unit on living things, plants, health, and ecology. The course finishes with a unit on the features of planet Earth, as well as the solar system. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. Partial Courses - Monthly courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 weeks Delivery Method
