Course Description Students with prior knowledge of the Spanish language will continue developing their written and oral language skills through in-depth lessons which include participating in thoughtful forum discussions, interpreting the language, and expressing themselves in writing and orally. Vocabulary topics explored include: family relationships, describing physical and personality traits, school subjects, telling time, daily schedule/routine, places around town, weather, sports/leisure activities, chores, expressing needs/wants, food and nutrition, health & wellness, clothing, currencies, shopping, tourism, modes of transportation, making plans, TV programs, future plans, and professions. Grammar topics explored include: noun/adjective agreement, present tense -ai/-er/-ir verb conjugation, -e>-ie stem changing verbs, reflexive verbs, prepositions, SER vs. ESTAR, present progressive tense, simple future tense, commands, and direct objects and direct object pronouns, hacer+time+que, demonstrative adjectives, the preterit and imperfect past tenses and when to use each. Students will explore various Spanish-speaking countries through learning about the products, practices, and perspectives associated with various Spanish-speaking countries, as well as reflect upon and share their own experiences of coming from a Spanish speaking background. These vocabulary and grammar topics combined with cultural exploration make this course a dynamic, Spanish course for Spanish speaking students. The course is presented in Spanish. Course Materials A headset and microphone are recommended. Spanish-English dictionary is recommended but not required.
