Course Description The 3rd Grade Science curriculum was developed using the SAS (Standard Aligned System), and NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) standards. The course covers topics in biology, physics, and earth science. The only topic covered in chemistry is Matter. In the first section, biology, student will learn about the basic needs of life, life cycle of plants and animals, animal groups, fossils, inheritance and the environment, and adaptation. The second section deals with matter and its properties. The physics portion of the course covers patterns of motion, motion and energy, magnets and electromagnets, basic heat transfer, changing matter, and light. The earth science topics teach about the change of state of water, weather, climate, natural disasters, weather and the water cycle, the relationship between Earth, Sun, and the Moon. Lastly rocks, minerals, and soil complete the 3rd Grade curriculum. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days.
