Course Description The Creative Writing course explores how prose and poetry are envisioned, created, and written down. Through literary analysis and the study of specific works, students will dive into the fundamentals of how authors develop plot and characters through the use of literary devices, dialogue, mood, and tone. Students will learn creative writing techniques and apply these skills to original works such as short stories, poems, scenes, and multimedia presentations. This course also covers basic and advanced writing skills including grammar, sentence structure, and parts of speech. Readings include: The Monkey's Paw, The Bet by Anton Chekov, Federigo's Falcon (from The Decameron), and The Raven.
