Course Description
The AP® US History course is designed to provide students with the critical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal logically with the problems and materials in US History from roughly 1491 to the present. The course is based on the nine units of required content in the AP® US History Course and Exam Description outlined by College Board. In this course, students will examine, interpret, and analyze the topics from the following nine units of study: Period 1: 1491-1607, Period 2: 1607-1754, Period 3: 1754-1800, Period 4: 1800-1848, Period 5: 1844-1877, Period 6: 1865-1898, Period 7: 1890-1945, Period 8: 1945-1980, and Period 9: 1980-Present. The course also provides eight themes that students explore throughout the course to make connections among historical developments in different times and places: American and national identity; work, exchange, and technology; geography and the environment; migration and settlement; politics and power; America in the world; American and regional culture; and social structures.

This course does not include registration for the AP Exam Offering. Students planning to take the AP exam are required to register and sit locally for the AP Exam.
