Course Description In 1st Grade Language Arts, students will learn and apply the foundations of the English language through reading, writing, and listening. They will be introduced to alphabetical order, concepts of print, phonological awareness and sight words. They will read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts while learning and applying comprehension strategies. Students will also engage in Writing Workshop where they will learn how to plan, draft, revise, and publish their writing pieces through modeling and guided practice. Included in Writing Workshop are mini lessons that focus on teaching specific writing strategies. They will learn narrative, informational and opinion writing. In addition, students will also learn and apply foundational grammar and sentence structure skills. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. Partial Courses - Monthly courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 weeks Delivery Method
