Course Description This course is specifically designed for students from the state of North Carolina. The fundamental purpose of Physical Science is to examine the structure and interactions of matter and energy in the universe as well as the laws that govern them. This class will begin by focusing heavily on the history of science, as well as the process of obtaining and interpreting reliable knowledge. Physical science is an introduction to the topics of both chemistry and physics, and introduces some Earth science topics as well. Content knowledge students will learn includes atoms, elements, the periodic table, chemical bonds and compounds, nuclear chemistry, states of matter, forces, motion, energy, work, heat, waves, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, climate and weather, and astronomy. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days.
