Course Description This course is specifically designed for students from the state of Missouri. A variety of themes and concepts are covered in the 2nd Grade Social Studies course. Students will begin the course with a lesson on the purpose and importance of studying history and geography. Students will then continue through an assortment of topics that include lessons on geography, the culture of the United States, civics, civil rights, early civilizations, Native American tribes, basic economic theory, the American political system, and the environment. Students will learn about regions in Missouri by exploring geography, culture, and heritage. There is a focus on global change, and how we have become an interconnected world. Students will demonstrate their understanding of key concepts and complete writing assignments through the Writing Workshop. The Writing Workshop teaches essential writing skills while providing guidance to draft, revise, edit and publish. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days.
