Course Description In AP® Environmental Science, students will have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills, including recording data, gathering evidence, analyzing data, developing hypotheses, and connecting content to real world environmental issues. There is a focus on the interaction between human society and the environment. Inquiry based labs, conceptual understandings, and vocabulary are the central tenets to the AP® Environmental Science course. The course is based on the nine units of required content in the AP® Environmental Science Course and Exam Description outlined by College Board. These are The Living World: Ecosystems, The Living World: Biodiversity, Populations, Earth Systems and Resources, Land and Water Use, Energy Resources and Consumption, Atmospheric Pollution, Aquatic and Terrestrial Pollution, and Global Change. This course does not include registration for the AP Exam Offering. Students planning to take the AP exam are required to register and sit locally for the AP Exam. Self Paced Scheduling Information Complete Courses - Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months - 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months - 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months Abbreviated Courses - Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days. - Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days. Prerequisites Students taking AP Environmental Science should have completed two years of high school science consisting of one year of biology and one year of either physical science or chemistry. Students should also have completed Algebra 1. Other Information This course does not include registration for the AP Exam Offering.
