Course Description
Students gain understanding of the importance of research, observation, data collection, hypothesizing, and analyzing as used in the scientific method. Students discover the makeup of atoms and the composition of molecules, elements, and compounds. This course explores the relationship between magnetism and electricity and the various types of electric circuits. A study of the major human body systems and their functions is also included. An investigation is made of plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis and how they affect land formation. Students study climatic and geological natural disasters and how scientists monitor and prepare for them. This course also includes other topics such as reviewing guidelines for safety in the laboratory, studying diseases, bacteria, and viruses, investigating characteristics and phases of the moon and the Apollo space program, and understanding ecosystems, consumers, producers, and decomposers.

- Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 9 months
- 1/2 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 4 months
- 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 2 months

ABBREVIATED COURSES - A shortened course intended for students seeking to recover credits or make-up failed courses during the regular school year or over the summer.
- Abbreviated Full Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 60 days.
- Abbreviated 1/2 and 1/4 Credit Equivalent courses must be completed by your school's end date and within 30 days.

PARTIAL COURSES - A partial version of an online course intended for students temporarily away from classes (i.e. Home Bound Instruction, In/Out-of School Suspension).
- Partial courses must be completed by your school's end date
