Course Description
This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of fundamental concepts and their applications while reinforcing and developing skills essential for continued success as life long learners. US History I (1865-1918) starts with the events surrounding the end of the American Civil War. This course concentrates on the time period from Reconstruction through to the end of World War I. An emphasis is placed on the study of Western Expansion, the Second Industrial Revolution, the Populist and Progressive Movement, the Spanish-American War and World War I.
