Course Description
In Shakespeare, students will explore and read plays and sonnets written by William Shakespeare. Students will analyze these works through writing, presentation, and discussion. They will learn and demonstrate an understanding of theme, point-of-view, literary devices, and strategy. Students will explore issues and express their understanding of historical and literary context of these works. Students will also develop their fundamental reading and writing skills while learning strategies to read plays and poetry. Students will continue to refine their grammar skills and increase their vocabulary by exploring how language and punctuation are used to create meaning. They will also learn how to conduct research and document sources with proper citation. Readings include: Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest, and Macbeth.
